To help the Local Government Unit of Oroquieta City in the planning, development and implementation of the Organic Agriculture Program in the City, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) capacitated 42 members of the Organic Agriculture Local Technical Committee (LTC) , Technical Working Group (TWG), and the work force of the City Agriculture and Fisheries Office (CAFO) to an Experience based training on Organic Agriculture.
Sagrada P. Alvarez, City Agriculturist of Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental was very thankful to ATI. “ We are so much thankful to the Agricultural Training Institute for granting our request to guide us to properly implement Organic Sustainable Farming in our city, so that before the planning let us do the benchmarking to the different Organic Farm Learning Site in the region.”
The training is the initial stage in the activities needed in support to Republic Act 10068, otherwise known as the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010. This will help them pursue their dreams and aspirations in the sustainable implementation and development of their Organic Agriculture Program.
“Witnessing different sites and different farm practices inspired us and give us ideas and innovations which are applicable to our locality. We are so much aggressive to pursue and establish learnings/transfer such technology individually or in group. Thank you ATI for the opportunity. We look forward for more support in the coming days, years in our endeavor. God bless DA-ATI 10. More power. Words cannot suffice the learnings you imparted us”. Alvarez continued.
The training provides new insights and enhances interaction and exchange of techno information to broaden the participants’ perspective in planning and implementation of the Organic Agriculture Program in the City.
The training was held on September 18 – 22, 2017 at Veranda-Casisang, Malaybalay City and to other learning sites of Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City and Bukidnon. (With reports from Mr. Javier P. Andalan)
