Fruit Processing Training at Malitbog, Bukidnon

Hands-on processing of the training participants

MALITBOG, Bukidnon – The increasing need for farmers to add value to their products led ATI-RTC X to conduct the training “Increasing Income by Enhancing Quality and Shelf-life: Training on Fruit Processing”. The training was held on September 20-22, 2017 in Malitbog, Bukidnon.

The 36 participants were composed of fruit plantation owners and members of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC), which is an association of women farmers. They were taught how to process fruits such as: durian, pineapple and rambutan. Aside from this, they were also trained on how to compute cost and price their products. They were also taught packaging and labeling.

Ms. Vima Macalasang-Bolanio, the OIC Municipal Agriculturist from Jimenez, Misamis Occidental and the owner of Vima’s Agriventure, one of the accredited Learning Sites of ATI-RTC X . Ms. Bolanio is successfully producing and marketing fruit preserves from her farm's produce. (with information from Jeric L. Cabatac, Project Officer)
