EL SALVADOR, Misamis Oriental – Out of the 17 examinees who took the Provincial Examinations this September for the Young Filipino Farmers Training Program in Japan (YFFTPJ), eight (8) qualified for the Regional Exam. During the Regional Exam, only five of the eight qualifiers showed up during the Regional eliminations thus making the five automatically qualify to compete in the National level examination and validation.
The five lucky young farmers are: Aljon D. Arbonida from Manticao, Misamis Oriental; Godwin D. Combalan and Richard Dadole from Impasug-ong, Bukidon; John Patrick Lagrana from Silae, Malaybalay City; and Ildefonso P. Beltran from Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. All five are active 4-H Club members in their respective Municipalities.
YFFTPJ is the country’s counterpart program for the ASEAN Young Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan and is a collaboration of the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), the Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC).
Those who will pass the national level examination and validation will undergo the four phases of the program – Home Stay, Pre-Departure Orientation Course, Training Proper in Japan and Post Training Program. During the training, they would be able to learn new farming technologies and techniques, agricultural management skills and participate in farm youth activities.
