Pushing Locally viable Feed alternative for Poulty and Livestock in Region 10

Malaybalay City, BUKIDNON—Capitalizing on the abundance of locally available ingredients and economical feed alternative for poultry livestock in the region , the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X ) conducted the Training on Corn and Cassava-based Feed Formulation.

The training aims to introduce participants on a more cost-effective feeding practices for their livestock and poultry farms through capacitating them on utilizing local and indigenous ingredients, particularly, the corn and cassava.

There were 30 participants of the training composed of corn and cassava farmers and Agriculture Extension Workers from the different parts of the province.

Lecture and discussions on the overview on corn and cassava feed industry, animal nutrition and feed formulation. Furthermore, highlighting the training was the workshop and hands-on activities on feed mixing ration and formulation the participants have gone through to enhance familiarity and retention of the technology.

Integrating livestock commodity to corn and cassava farms in the region has been longed push due to its known complementation and maximizing its potential to augment income of farmers through a lesser feed input.

The training was held at Veranda, Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on August 27-29, 2019 (from the reports of Noriel Kris Santillan).
