Cabanglasan Corn Farmers train on Corn-Livestock Integration

CABANGLASAN, Bukidnon --- The move to ensure uplifted lives of corn farmers in the region continued as the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X trained twenty (20) corn farmers from the different barangay in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon on Barangay-based Training on GAP Corn Livestock Integration.

“Everything starts as a seed and farmers are liKE seeds, [that when planted] we need to be fertilized to grow and produce fruits. The fertilizer is like the knowledge and skills ATI taught,”Mr. Dondon Limasanon, a participants shared during the activity.

The training was focused on teaching farm diversification through corn and livestock integration, while maximizing their area and encouraging a more diversified source of income to the participants. Farmers also learned the principles of the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) that would enable them to produce safer and healthier farm produce. With this, participants learned to work not just on productivity but also the sustainability of their farms.

A starter kit composed of a packed pinakbet seeds, sweet corn seeds and seedling trays were distributed to the participants.

The activity was made possible through the support of Local Government of Cabanglasan, Bukidnon. It was conducted at Poblacion, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on July 27-29, 2021.
