“Media plays an important role in information dissemination. We need your help in promoting our farms, so other will know about us, and what we do as farmers,” shared Mr. Junah Bayag, owner of Jaya Secret Garden.
Jaya Secret Garden is the first visited Learning Site for Agriculture ( LSA) as the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X ( ATI-RTC X) conducted “ Farm Hop: An Experiential Journey to Learning Sites in region 10 with the Local Media” on August 13-14, 2019.
The activity was joined by 15 media staff from Sunstar –CDO, Rappler-CDO, Golden Banner, DXMV Radyo Ukay, Radyo Commando, Central Mind Newswatch, DXGG Happy FM,Radyo Bandera, and a staff from the Philippine Information Agency – 10.
Aside from Jaya Secret Garden in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, the group also visited Binahon Agro Forestry Farm in Laptapan, Bukidnon, Alomah’s Place and Nature Farm in Manolo Fortich Bukidnon, and Square Foot Organic Urban Garden in Cagayan de Oro City.
The activity aims to strengthen partnership between ATI-10 and local media in extension service, envisioning a better and wider network in reaching client and other stakeholders in agriculture and fisheries . It further intends to amplify advocacy promotion, and information dissemination of programs and services of the agency in the region. Also, it is a seen opportunity to assist LSAs and farmer partners in promotion not just of their farms but of the technology, practices and innovation.
“we want to help the government, especially on the farming (industry), this activity is very important,” said Ms. Melodina Molejon of Central Mind Newswatch, one of the participants of the activity.
“we would like to thank the agency who have initiated this activity,”she added.
The activity was planned during the Talakayan sa PIA. in May at SM Downtown Premiere on MAY 21, 2019 featuring ATI-RTC X. Talakayan is a media forum initiated by PIA in partnership with SM.
ATI-RTC X is planning to conduct another batch of the said activity in FY 2020.
