ALOMAH’S PLACE, DAHILAYAN, MANOLO FORTICH BUKIDNON. The pool of government communicators gathered at Alomah’s Place in Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon for a one-day meeting, “getting to know you” activity, and farm visit.
The meeting covered the brief history of the Regional Association of Government Communicators (RAGCOM) of Region 10, which existed for 46 years. RAGCOMs accomplishments were presented by its current President, Ms. Merlyn Ybaňez of PhilHealth 10.
One of the highlights of the activity is the message of Philippine Information Agency Director Erlinda Olivia P. Tiu. Director Tiu mentioned Executive Order #70 of the Office of the Philippine President, creating the task force End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) to implement the Whole-of-the-Nation Approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace. She explained that one of the clusters of the program is communication, where the RAGCOM plays an important role in its implementation. She also said that ATI is also a very important partner to provide training programs to the rebel returnees.
Director Tiu also informed the member agency representatives that future activities will be focused on the ELCAC. She also cautions the critical tasks of the information officers to provide the right information and deliver it properly, in such a way that people will understand what the government is doing, for them to be convinced to return to its fold.
The Regional Association of Government Communicators (RAGCOM) of Region 10 is an association of information officers of the government agencies of the region, which is anchored with the PIA Region 10. Present in the meeting were representatives of the member agencies which include PhilHelth, NaPolCom, Philippine Army, Phil. National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Internal Revenue, University of Science & Technology in Southern Phil., Wage and Productivity Board, Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Department of Science and Technology, Population Commission, Civil Service Commission and PIA.
The session ended with a farm tour at the lettuce plantation of Alomah’s Place and other areas of the farm. Alomah’s Place is one of the Learning Sites of the ATI-RTC 10.
