Investing for the Future thru Organic Gardening in Bukidnon

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon-- “Let us love our nature, we can’t live without it. Enjoy the bounty of Agriculture within a protected environment” said Mr. Benjamin T. Maputi Sr.
Maputi is one of the Resource Speakers of the three-day Training on Organic Backyard Vegetable Gardening and Edible Landscaping conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X ( ATI-RTC X) for the farmer beneficiaries of the Tier 2 program of ATI in the province of Bukidnon.
In his talk on a safer and environmentally friendly farming, emphasized the concept of giving back to nature, and investing for the future through organic farming. A promise of sustainability and abundance in return.
Mr. Maputi is an environment advocate, a Gawad Saka Awardee, Magsasaka Siyentista, and the owner of Mt. Kitanglad Agri-ecological Techno Demo Center (MKAETDC), a farm tourism site in region 10.
The activity was participated by 39 farmers in the Malaybalay City and its neighboring municipalities, to wit: Kitaotao, Don Carlos, Cabanglasan, and Impasug-ong. Aside from the identified participants, the management also welcomed some walk-in participants during the training.
It aims to encourage the farmers to shift from conventional farming to organic farming. It promotes a more economical, safer and environment-friendly farming in the province. Thus, capacitate small backyard farmers to increase their income by promoting home-grown garden inputs that would help them cut input cost.
There were series of lectures and discussions, combined with demonstrations and hands-on activities in the three-day activity.
Mr. Junah S. Bayag, is one of the Resource Speakers owns Jaya’s Secret Garden. Bayag shared the concept of Edible Landscaping, and organic agriculture farming as practice and showcase in his garden. Both Maputi and Bayag, were learning site operators practitioner of organic agriculture. The technologies shared were practical, proven productive, and replicable in their farms.
The activity was held at Veranda, Casisang, Malaybalay City on June 13-15, 2018.
