El SALVADOR CITY, Misamis Oriental—There were about fifty (50) participants of Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X’s Free Seminar on Climate Resilient Agriculture Technologies on May 31, 2018 at ATI-El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
The one-day activity aims to introduced viable climate-ready and viable agricultural production practices on Mushroom Production and Container Gardening to the participants coming from the different parts of the region.
Invited speakers are practitioners and successful farm owners and ATI -accredited Learning Site Operators in the province of Lanao Del Norte . The speakers were the following: Engr. Leonard S. Rivera, Manager of JIKA Farm in Lala, Lanao del Norte who talked about Mushroom Production and spawn making using Pleurotus variety; Mr. Pedro Mariquit, an experienced mushroom grower of Iligan City who shared techniques in mushroom growing and spawn making using volvariella variety; and, Mr. Ronie Baliton of Ranchers Bay, another ATI-accredited Learning Site who talked about Container Gardening.
“We have invited practitioners as Resource Speakers . They will teach you not just theory but will share to you actual experiences. You can ask them any questions that you wish to be clarified upon.”,said Ms. Noemi Beth Macario, Chief of the Information Services Section.
Lectures were coupled with demonstrations and hands-on activities . Practical and easy to follow methods that were already tested by the speakers were shared to them.
The activity was the first “Free for all Seminar” this year for interested farming enthusiasts which caters the walk-in and online followers of the agency. ATI Northern Mindanao is innovating to reach and serve a wider reach of stakeholders in the region.
