Tubod, LANAO DEL NORTE-- Seeing the rising trend on the demand of halal meat products in the province’s agri-business industry, the Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center X( ATI-RTC X) is continuously capacitating farmers to meet the quality set by halal in the consumers.
ATI-RTC X recently conducted the Training of Trainers (TOT) on Halal Goat Enterprise on April 29-May 3, 2019 at A & A Building, Tubod, Lanao del Norte. It was participated in by 30 Agricultural Technicians and Barangay Animal Health Workers ( BAWs) from the different barangays of Tubod.
The training aims to produce future trainers with enhance knowledge and skills on Halal Goat Production, Management and Enterprising. Halal became a quality standard of food industries .It has gained popularity to both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers.
The training was highlighted with lectures, discussion and workshops on following topics on the fundamental concepts of Halal and Haram; Potential of Halal as Goat Enterprise, and Farm Management and Farm Record Practices.
After the training, they are expected to be an additional workforce in advocating halal practices in their municipalities , helping farmers to be ready for opportunities of the emerging halal industry in the country.
Goat production enterprise was identified by the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Bukidnon as one of the industries to help farmers boost their income because of its potential market.
The three-day activity was in coordination with LGU-Tubod through its Municipal Agriculture Office. ( with reports from Noriel Kris Santillan, Training Specialist II).
