A new day beckons us as a new generation of young farmers are taking over the agriculture sector. This early, some of them are already making a mark in their respective fields, either in the countryside or in the cityscape.The Philippine government,through the Department of Agriculture (DA) have introduced various interventions and programs to further motivate, inspire, and capacitate young Filipinos to venture into agriculture and fisheries, and for the youth to engage in agri-fishery based enterprises. Such efforts of the agriculture department intend to ensure food security amid the challenges of climate change and an aging population of farmers and fisherfolk. With the youth’s drive, ambition, and technological intuition, we aspire that they will steer Philippine agriculture into the age of digital and smart technologies, and put the agriculture sector on a path of more resilient growth towards a robust and dynamic economy.
