ATI-7 host RIC Summit

Tagbilaran City – The Agricultural Training Institute – VII concluded two (2) batches of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) Provincial Summit with its theme “The Role of RIC in the Economic Upliftment of the Farm Family” on September 16 & 22, 2020 at Reyna’s Haven this city.

The summit aims to bring together RIC officers from each municipality to learn and share developments from the activity. It has been known that RIC acts as an extension arm of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the implementation of Home Resource Management throughout the country. Established since the year 1934, RIC aims to promote the interest and welfare of the home managers and the families as well; promote unity, peace, love, and camaraderie among women in the community; and Implement rural development programs and projects under the DA and other government agencies.

In the province of Bohol, a total of 90 RIC’s established with 3,312 members. As a rural-based organization composed of women, most are engaged in food processing and home trading.

Topics discussed during the event are Basic on Food Safety, How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur and the Importance of Financial Literacy. Meanwhile, Summit for other provinces in the region is scheduled next year.

A total of 37 RIC officers participated in the event while Gracia F. Arado, Ph.D., Assistant Center Director and Lydia Borbano, Chief of Partnership and Accreditation Services Section facilitated the event.
