AEWs/IOs Trained on Farmcasting

Cebu City - Twenty-two (22) Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and Information Officers (IOs) from Region VII participated the Farmcasting/Broadcasting Training at Golden Valley Hotel this city on May 28-30, 2019.

The agriculture industry holds a lot of information on new technologies that should be disseminated to the farmers. The Department of Agriculture through the Agricultural Training Institute maximizes the use of information and communication technology that would bridge to the farmers, fishers and other stakeholders. One of these is the use of radio as a means of information dissemination. Radio is considered as a powerful communication tool as its transmission reaches wide audience. It has been our experience that radio proves to be a medium for agricultural extension to broaden its reach to the farmers through the relevant information using the broadcasting facilities. Thus, the training on Farmcasting/Broadcasting with the objective of enhancing knowledge and skills of participants on the basics of Rural Broadcasting.

Participants were taught on the history of broadcasting, voice/microphone and interview techniques, and media laws and ethics. The activity also includes workshops and expository visit at dyMR and dyRD radio stations were some participants had a live interview.

Atty. Piedad “Bingo” Gonzalez, Annabelle Lagrosas, Jean Antiporta served as speakers during the 3-day training, while Doris Isabel Racho acted as project officer assisted by Rhea Khristine Bongcac.
