A borrowed line from the world-renown Indian Lawyer, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or aka Mahatma Gandhi: "If you give me rice, I'll eat today; if you teach me how to grow rice, I'll eat every day," best fitting to our month-long celebration of the Department of Agriculture’s National Rice Awareness.
The Agricultural Training Institute in Central Visayas joins the nation in celebrating the National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) this November with the message “Grow local. Buy local. Eat local. #SupportourRiceFarmers”.
This year’s NRAM celebration is a follow-through of 2019’s campaign. This time, it does not only emphasize marketing and consumption but also the production of local rice. It also encourages the rice sector as well as stakeholders to support Filipino farmers’ produce at a reasonable price and prompt the rice-consuming public to patronize locally.
Moreover, NRAM’s thrust is also to raise consumer awareness on the revenues of buying and consuming locally produced rice, which leads to demand creation that can boost farmers’ confidence to continue producing safe, affordable, and quality rice.
The monthlong celebration will take pride in our Filipino farmers' produce and also support the nation’s rice industry.
