Adopt a 4-H batch 9 launch

The Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center 7(ATI-RTC7) launched the 9th batch of Adopt-a- Farm Youth (Adopt a 4-H) Program on July 25, 2017 at Elnard’s Organic Farm, Candura, San Juan, Siquijor. Five (5) 4-Her’s coming from Bohol, Siquior, Negros Oriental and Cebu participated in the said program.

The Adopt A Farm Youth is another capability-building strategy geared towards the development and enhancement of the Out-of School Youth (4-H) who are engaged or want to engage in agri-fishery based livelihood projects. This six-week immersion of the OSY to the farms of outstanding farmers aim to enhance the various skills of young farmers in farming through the use of the new agricultural technology in farming, fishing, livestock raising, diversified farming including the basic entrepreneurial skills.

The launching was graced by Dr. Ramon A. Taroc, Provincial Agriculturist of Siquijor Province with Ms. Nida Abada, Provincial 4-H Coordinator, Mr. Arnold Manginsay, Municipal Agriculturist of San Juan, Siquijor, with his Agricultural Technician, Ms. Layzan Macalisang, and Dr. Gracia F. Arado, Training Center Superintendent I of ATI.

Dr. Ramon A. Taroc encouraged the youth to be productive because they are the hope of our fatherland.

The host farmer, Mr. Elnard Ympal and his family were very grateful that they were chosen as part of the AFY program with the assurance that the young trainees will be treated as family members since the program will run until Sept. 7, 2017.
