Senior Citizens in Cebu undergo Health and Wellness Training

"It is right to give thanks to ATI for remembering us, senior citizens. We didn't expect that they will organize something just for us to attend to and learn from. Even having Doc Palma who is quite a remarkable doctor. I have observed that I sustained the 3 days training. Previously or with other training, I sometimes find excuses to leave early but here, I was locked in my chair. That is because the discussion is very interesting, our resource person is very amazing and our facilitator treats us very well. Next time, if we are invited to training, we will attend willingly and enthusiastically,” these were the words of Mr. Domingo Q. Chavez Jr., Head, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs in Cebu who is one of the participants.

The Agricultural Training Institute in Central Visayas conducted a three-day Training on Health and Wellness for Senior Citizens last July 18-20, 2017 at ATICEMCO Training Hall, M. Velez Street, Guadalupe, Cebu City with Dr. Mechelle Acero-Palma of Remnant Institute Incorporated formerly Remnant Institute of Alternative Medicine of Iloilo City as the sole trainer-facilitator.

The reason for conducting this activity is to give the senior citizens the opportunity to learn new ideas about health and wellness whose objectives include the enumeration of the fundamentals in whole food and medicinal herb preparation; the basic principles of vegetarianism nutritional and dietary health issues; execute basic bodyworks therapy and hydrotherapy as well as preparation of alternative food/medicine.

Ms. Reynadez Lim, Agriculturist I of ATI-RTC 7 was the project officer of said activity. A total of 34 senior citizens successfully completed the training and they appreciated it with so much gratefulness.

Among their learning from this training is that they will share their experiences at the next meeting of their respective associations; that processing of soybeans to be included to different healthy menus with no wastage at all and above of it all, this activity is an eye-opener wherein it made them realized that plants in the surroundings, if everyone does not pay attention at all, are medicine prepared by God.
