As an initial step in the pursuit to make the lone district of Siquijor as an Organic Capital in the country, a total of 29 graduates composed of Agricultural Extension Workers, DepEd Teachers and Barangay Agricultural Technicians of Siquijor completed the Appreciation Course on Organic Agriculture at the Department of Education Training Center, Solangon, San Juan, Siquijor last July 25-27, 2017.

The course aims to improve the participants’ function-based technical and extension services on organic farming and strengthen their involvement in the vigorous implementation of the Organic Agricultural Program in the island.

It can be recalled that during the visit of DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol in the province last June, he suggested that Siquijor must be the organic capital in the country.
