Eskaya tribe goes healthy farming

Eskaya indigenous people prepares NFS concoctions

MARIBOJOC, BOHOL - Thirty-four (34) participants from the Indigenous Peoples, the Eskaya embarked anew on healthy farming through organic agriculture practice as they participated in the Capability Enhancement Training for IPs: Healthy Farming and Production System at the Binhi sa Panginabuhian Organic Farm, Bayacabac, Maribojoc, Bohol on August 23-25, 2017.
Specifically, the training aimed to increase awareness of the participants on the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 and the aspects of sustainable agriculture, and perform hands-on on the various Natural Fermented Solutions. They have also experienced the appropriate method and application of the various farming techniques on organic swine production locally developed in the Binhi sa Panginabuhian Farm called MARIBOY, and the organic poultry production, MARINOK.

The members of the Eskaya exhibited curiosity in developing positive attitudes towards healthy and sustainable farming, which is one of the objectives of the training.

Lanida Obut, one of the participants expressed after the training “I am so overwhelmed because I have learned so much especially about Mariboy and the Marinok wherein we learned how to raise swine and poultry with the least expenses but in a shorter span of time and we can readily apply it in our own farms.”
Mr. Reyland Jabonillo, Manager of the Binhi sa Panginabuhian Organic Farm was the resource person during the said training.
