With the ageing population of Filipino farmers, there is a need to harness the skills and competence of youth in agriculture for the next generation of farmers.
ATI-RTC 7 is conducting a new undertaking dubbed as Binhi ng Pag-Asa Program (Under the Young Farmers Program), which aims to promote “Agri-preneurship” among the youth giving them access to entrepreneurial skills and development in agriculture. The activity also aims to showcase and train new age agricultural technologies and methods; and provide supplies to the trained participants in the form of “agricultural start-up kit” which would allow them to grow their own crops (based on the local situation). Bohol and Cebu are the identified pilot provinces for Central Visayas.
Four Batches of Provincial TOTs for Binhi ng Pag-asa Program were conducted last June and July, 2017 with a total of 175 youth beneficiaries for the said activity from the Provinces of Bohol and Cebu.
The 4 -Day Training consists of 3 days for agricultural topics and the one day for Leadership and Values Formation.
