Tagbilaran City – The Agricultural Training Institute – VII (ATI-7) being the training arm of the Department of Agriculture is happy to announce the recent blessing and turn-over of two-story institutional building on August 15, 2019. With this, ATI-7 can accommodate more training and participants inside the regional training center, Cabawan District, this city.

ATI-7 Center Director Carolyn May O. Daquio, Ph.D. during the ceremony said, “the average age of farmers now is 57 which is aging, thus there is a need to train more young farmers” and “this new building will be of great use to serve as another training hub,” she added.

Present during the event was Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap. In his speech, he thanked ATI-7 for choosing this City as the location of its regional training center because it brings development, particularly on agriculture. He quipped that with ATI’s Young Agripreneurs Program he is happy because saying it short, it is tagged as “YAP”. He added that the City Government in its support to agriculture also conducts agricultural drive by giving small backyard gardening and livestock projects for the Tagbilaranons to know the importance of agriculture and farmers. Meanwhile, it has been known that the lot where ATI-7 is located is under the city government of Tagbilaran and Mayor Yap was instrumental in the expansion of ATI’s training complex.

The turn-over was also attended by ATI-7 staff and the 3-N Construction personnel.
