NEGROS ORIENTAL. With the quest of rice hybridization in the Philippines, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 7 based in Cabawan District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol continue to conduct briefings to the island provinces in the region with the objective of having an increased yield.
Engr. Jonathan O. Sumagang, Development Management Officer II of ATI-7 spearheaded the briefing last June 25, 2019 at the Farmers’ Information Technology Services (FITS) Center in Villareal, Bayawan City, this province with 47 participants composed of farmers and agricultural extension workers.
Among the topics discussed include the advantages of hybrid rice production; application of the recommended cultural management in tandem with PalayCheck System; and answers questions pertaining to this program.
The pool of trainers were Benjie M. Melanio, Jr.; Jorge Odiaman and Edgardo Bahinting of the Negros Oriental Research and Development Center (NORDC). Ms. Julie Ann Buhion, ATI-7 Technical Staff supported the training with the partnership from the Municipal Agriculture Office of the Local Government Unit of Bayawan City.
