CVAARRDEC to launch FIESTA

Tagbilaran City - The Central Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARRDEC) through Technology Transfer and Knowledge Management Clusters will hold its first Farms and Industry Encounters through Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA) with a theme: “CVAARRDEC: Moving towards Seaweeds Industry Transformation in Region 7”. The activity will be held at Reyna’s Haven and Gardens this city on May 29-30, 2019.

FIESTA aims to disseminate and share information on matured seaweed production and processing technologies and product manufacturing. Apart from seaweed, other Research and Development priority commodities of the consortium will also be part of the highlights of the activity. This is in line with the Technology Transfer and Knowledge Management Clusters’ goals in identifying mature and appropriate technologies for efficient utilization, adoption and commercialization for sustainable development in agriculture, aquatic and natural resources and seaweed is one of them.

The event will include Exhibits, Media Conference, Plenary Sessions on Seaweed Health Management; Organic Liquid Fertilizer from Seaweed Extracts; Irradiated Carageenan Fertilizer; Asexual Propagation of Breadfruit “A CEST project of DOST-7”; Lets Talk about Chocolate; and Choco Milk Carageenan. Other activities like Market/Business Matching and actual technology demonstration will also be held.

CVAARRDEC is a consortium of Research and Development supervised by Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) - Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and currently chaired by the Bohol Island State University (BISU). Other consortium member institutions (CMI) includes Holy Name University (HNU); Agricultural Training Institute (ATI); Negros Oriental State University (NORSU); Action for Skills, Knowledge, Education and Wellness Center (ASKEDWELL), Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR); Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) Bohol; Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); and University of the Philippines – Cebu.
FIESTA is free and open to everyone.
