RIC members participates GAD-based Capacity Enhancement

CEBU CITY. - About 24 Rural Improvement Clubs (RICs) members from the four provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor and Negros Oriental participated the three-day training on Gender-based Capacity Enhancement on Value Adding, Packaging and Marketing for RIC Products at Cebu Northwinds Hotel, this city on March 20-22, 2018.
RICs has begun its economic activities and has served as a job creation mechanism of the government. Yet it is faced today with critical challenge to develop their products to be commercially acceptable that meet the needs and requirements of both local and global markets. Some of the products though have already been an entry to previous trade fairs and product exposition in and outside their provinces. The ultimate concern is for them to establish and sustain their product’s competitive edge in the market place. Thus, the said training.

The training provided participants with knowledge on Packaging Materials, Mandatory Labeling, Product Package Interaction, Branding, Understanding Nutrition Facts and Barcoding. Further, it equipped them with skills on effective negotiation, marketing and guide in Food and Drug Administration – License to Operate (FDA-LTO) application.
Resource speakers were Ms. Vina Antopina, Assistant Director of DOST Bohol and Ms. Doris Isabel J. Racho, IO II of ATI-7.
