Bohol - After a thorough evaluation by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the JQL Organic Farm in Luyo, Dimiao, this province which is an Agricultural Training Institute- VII (ATI-7) accredited Learning Site was launched as Farm School by TESDA on March 4, 2020 in Dimiao.
As a background, Farm Schools’ aim to ensure food security and enhance farmers’ skills and to be accredited, one must be a certified DA-ATI learning site.
A Learning Site (LS) is a farm practicing applicable agricultural technologies, employing doable farming strategies and operate successfully. Moreover, LS operators are given financial and technical assistance by the ATI. They will serve as model to showcase applicable agriculture technologies and thereby help improve farming capabilities of small farmers.
JQL Organic Farm is owned and managed by Cassimero Llubit. As an accredited farm school, they are also given financial support by TESDA for training operating expenses. JQL can now offer different Organic Agriculture Production – NC II courses accredited by TESDA Bohol.
It can be known that one provisions of Farm Tourism Act of 2016, is the establishment of Farm Tourism Sites. With this development, Farm school is a step towards Farm Tourism.
