Corn by-products training in Barili

CEBU. – The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 7 held a three-day Training Course on Feed Formulation using Corn by-Products last February 13-15, 2018 at Poblacion, Barili this province.

The training aimed to equip the participants the skills in formulating his own feeds for livestock and poultry using locally available ingredients in his farm particularly corn-by products and the adaption of natural/organic farming technology in raising his crop.
Barili Mayor Marlon F. Garcia graced the opening and closing program showing his support for the activity as well as to the agriculture sector in particular.

The training was spearheaded by Training Specialist II of ATI-7, Jorge F. Trinidad together with the pool of trainers in the person of Isagani M. Trinidad; Jacinto Caballero and Judinez Suello, Agricultural Extension Workers of LGU-Barili with Saint Peter Academy of Alegria Foundation, Inc. (SPAAFI) Project Manager, Cristino L. Villamor, Jr. and Training Specialist II of ATI-7, Aurelio L. Timtim.

Susana Lana, a Farmer from Aloguinsan, Cebu in her impression, said “Mapasalamaton kaayo ko og dako sa taga ATI kay kon wala pa sila dili usab kita maabot dinhing dapita, mahitungod niining Training Course on Feeds Formulation using corn by-product. Ug dinhing dapita akong nakat-unan ang mga sekretong pamaagi mahitungod sa paghimo ug mga feed products, ug gani atong napamatud-an ang atong gibuhat kagahapon nga mao ang pag buhat ug lawog sa baboy ug manok” (so thankful to ATI for bringing us into this training as we learned the steps of feed formulation using corn by-products for livestock).

ATI-7 in its mandate, that is to provide excellent extension services beyond boundaries, the training provided cuttings of Madre de Agua to the participants and they did a hands-on demonstration on feed formulation and Nature Farming Technology Systems (NFTS) preparation.

A total of 36 participants successfully completed the training course composed of agricultural extension workers, farmers, students, and teacher.
