BOHOL – After a one-day orientation on fire safety last January 19, 2018, the Agricultural Training Institute – Region 7 in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Tagbilaran City, conducted a follow-through activity on fire drill held at the ATI Regional Training Center, Cabawan District, this city on January 25, 2018.
The fire drill is an important part of ATI safety procedures as it ensures staff would understand what they need to do in case of fire. It also tested the effectiveness of the agency’s evacuation plan, checked if the fire alarms are working and examined what areas needs to improve.
Meanwhile, ATI-7’s top brass created a fire brigade structure headed by a fire marshal, followed by deputy fire marshal, and six teams composed of fire-fighting, communication, traffic, rescue/salvage, evacuation and first aid.
Re-enactment of a fire scenario was held and each team members played their respective roles. Fire Officers showed ATI staff on how to use the fire extinguisher.
In their assessment, SFO1 Joelle Marate of the BFP rated ATI-7 fire drill with very good remarks. She also mentioned few of the things that need improvement and sited suggestions on the office layout as far as fire safety is concerned.
