CENTRAL VISAYAS - A total of 295 farmers graduated after 16 weeks of intensive training in Farmer Field School (FFS) for vegetable production. The FFS is a community-based season long training wherein farmers have to undergo modular sessions for 16 weeks (1 day/week) with hands-on application in a communal garden or site in the barangay. Most of the sites preferred to learn on how to grow vegetables organically.
For this year, the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center VII facilitated 14 FFS sites in the region which includes four sites in Bohol, five in Negros Oriental and 5 more in Cebu.
For Bohol, local government of Jagna, Pilar, Sagbayan and Duero took the initiative and was granted with the said training. Sites simultaneously launched last July and graduation rites was held last December 7, 13 & 21, 2017 for Pilar, Jagna and Sagbayan respectively with a total of 108 graduates.
The graduation ceremonies were attended by representatives from different government agencies and offices such as from the Governor’s office, ATI RTC VII, OPA, Municipal Mayors, MAO and Congressmen from 2nd and 3rd Districts of Bohol.
