The Agricultural Training Institute is one with the nation in the observance of Soil Conservation Month.
As part of the Department of Agriculture's (DA) efforts to advocate awareness and consciousness of conserving soils in our country, the Department issued the Administrative Order No. 16 Series of 2007 to annually dedicate the month of June to promote the conservation, development, and management of soil and water as important resources for sustainable agricultural development.
The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) supports the observance of Soil Conservation Month this June.
With the theme “Conserving Soil Together: A key to land restoration and recovery”, it underlines the cumulative efforts of Filipinos and its greater relevance in the attainment of soil conservation against all odds.
To show our country's support to the awareness campaign and advocacy efforts against land degradation, the “Soil Conservation Month” was formulated and is now observed every June.
Created through the Department Order No. 2 series of 1997 by former Agriculture Secretary Salvador Escudero and Administrative Order No. 16 series of 2007 issued by the former Agriculture Secretary Arthur C. Yap, this event promotes the importance of soil and water conservation management in attaining food security for the Filipino people.
Recognizing soil and water as important resources for sustainable agricultural development, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) joins the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) in the annual observance of June as Soil Conservation Month.
