ILOILO CITY – Eighty-five Farmers Information Technology System (FITS) Center staff including the FITS Manager, FITS Information Services Specialist, FITS Technology Services Specialist, and Magsasaka Siyentista from within the region attended the 2nd Regional Techno Gabay Summit held last October 16-17, 2019 at MO2 Westown Hotel, Iloilo City.

Engr. Remelyn Recoter, Regional Executive Director of DA-RFO6, welcomed the participants of the summit. She likewise shared updates about DA's projects that concern Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Ms. Antonieta Arceo, Chief of the Information Services Division of ATI presented some updates on TGP implementation as well as discussed the Digital Farming Program project of the said agency. Dr. Reynaldo Dusaran, representative from WESVAARRDEC, also shared some updates regarding the plans of the consortium in partnering with the FITS Centers.

The highlight of the event is the awarding of ICT equipment for qualified FITS Centers to be enhanced under the RCM program and printers under the Yolanda Rehabilitation project to further equip the FITS Centers and to provide quality service to the clients.

The summit aims to update the implementers of the program as well as the status of the implementation. It likewise serves as an avenue to provide information on the new technologies, programs and services that can be used to enhance agricultural production specifically programs involving the use of ICT.
