BANGA, AKLAN – Two Akeanon Farmers signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and received financial assistance from ATI Region 6 last September 8, 2020 for the development of their farms on edible landscape.
Jerry Y. Ituriaga of Great Farmer Yard, Lilo-an, Malinao and Melrose F. Panganiban of Melrose Haven Farm, Tigayon, Kalibo, Aklan successfully implemented their action plans that were presented during the Skills Enhancement on Integrated and Diversified Farming Systems cum Project Proposal Writing last March 4-6, 2020 at Sol Y Mar Family Beach Resort, Tigbauan, Iloilo. Upon virtual monitoring of action plans conducted by the Center, these two farmers rose as best implementers together with other three learning site cooperators namely Elna T. Romero of Crisel Integrated Farm, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, Ces B. Alfabeto of Alfa Grande Eco Farm, Sta. Monica, Oton, Iloilo, and Rudy C. Quitong of Golden Harvest Farm, Guinbaliwan, New Washington, Aklan.The winners were among the 30 participants who attended the said training.
Dr. Eden DLR Bautista, Center Director, awarded the financial assistance after the MOA signing to the two winners in Aklan that will be used to develop and improve their farms as model sites for edible landscaping. The other three learning site cooperators also received the same financial assistance.
These model sites will be a venue to showcase technologies applied for edible landscaping that can be easily adopted by farmers in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. This is also one of the Center’s initiative in support to the Plant Plant Plant Program and “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Laban sa Covid-19” Program of the Department of Agriculture.
