BANGA, Aklan - Twenty farmers from Pagsanghan and Tabayon Farmers Association receive starter kits after attending the one-day Technical Briefing on Integrated Rice-based Farming System on July 8, 2020 at Pagsanghan Training Center, Banga, Aklan.
Mary Ann A. Ramos, Training Specialist III/CDMSS Chief, represented Dr. Eden DLR. Bautista, Center Director, in delivering the Opening Message. She emphasized the importance of integrated farming in achieving “Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita.” She also introduced Urban Gardening and invited the participants to visit ATONg UGSARAN, an ATI Region 6’s initiative that features edible container garden, square foot garden, vertical garden, culinary and medicinal herbs, among others.
The starter kit consists one bag complete (14-14-14) fertilizer; one piece of seedling tray; 12 different kinds of vegetable seeds; and various IEC materials.
Before the distribution of the said kits, Rodel R. Leyson, ATI Region 6’s Rice Focal person, discussed the Principles and Concepts of Integrated Rice-Based Farming and the Palayaman System including its benefits and requirements.
Representatives from DA-LGU Banga were also present headed by Myrnalyn I. Suante, OIC-MAO.
This activity is the first leg of 27 batches under Rice and Regular Programs that runs from July to November. It aims to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitude of the rice farmers on integrated rice-based farming system. The same activity will be conducted in the Provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo.
