As part of our continuous effort to provide farmers, fishers and other stakeholders easy access to agri-fishery information, 10 Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers received an enhancement support from ATI-RTC 02.

The FITS Centers of Aparri and Claveria, Cagayan; and Angadanan, Cabatuan, and San Mateo, Isabela are the recipients of the enhancement project under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF). Each FITS Centers were given with printers, external drive, radio, and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials.

Also, these five FITS Centers had selected five barangays for the establishment of FITS Kiosk. Learning sites in the said municipalities were also considered by the FITS Center to host the FITS kiosk. Initially, each Kiosk received IEC materials, display shelf, and a portable speaker.

On the other hand, the FITS Centers of Piat and Rizal, Cagayan; Cabbaroguis and Diffun, Quirino; and Quezon, Isabela are part of the regular FITS enhancement project of the Institute. They received laptop computer, printer, GPS device, tablet, and IEC materials.

“We are strengthening the FITS Centers by putting-up barangay FITS kiosk because we want to bring agri-information, technologies and other programs to the countryside. Ito ay para sa ating mga kapwa na bihirang pumunta sa ating mga opisina para maghanap ng mga teknolohiya para sa kanilang pagsasaka,” CD Imelda Guillermo said.

The barangay captains and the learning site cooperators accepted the challenge to be partners in the dissemination of agri-fishery information and technologies.

The FITS Center is a component of the Techno Gabay Program institutionalized in the LGUs.

The awarding ceremony was held on November 24, 2020 at ATI-RTC 02, San Mateo, Isabela.
