ATI trains new set of Local Farmer Technicians as partners in Extension Delivery

Complementing the limited number of extension workers in the Local Government Units, the Agricultural Training Institute -Regional Training Center 02 conducted Specialized Training Course for New Local Farmer Technicians (LFTs). It was conducted on June 6-10, 2022 at ATI-RTC 02 San Mateo, Isabela.

The 31 new LFTs from different provinces were trained on the principles and keychecks of the PalayCheck System, ICT-based tools and resources, extension delivery system, and transformational leadership. Through the training, the LFTs were supplemented with knowledge and skills that will help them in conducting extension activities.

“I’ve learned to be a responsible LFT. I’ve learned a lot in every activity and also there are many technologies that we should share to our farmers specially the Palaycheck System to improve their practice to increase their yield as well as their income," Ms. Zoraida Licayu said.

LFTs are partners of the Department of Agriculture and LGUs in the provision of extension services towards improving rice productivity. They are expected to share their learnings, technologies and practices to their fellow farmers in the community.
