LOS ANGELES, Butuan City - Smart Communications, Inc. recently awarded two farmer-youth tandem from RTRomualdez, Agusan del Norte for their winning entries on agricultural videos as output during the Knowledge Sharing and Learning (KSL) on Digital Farmers Program (DFP) 101.
Reah S. Sampuang and her son Mark Vincent S. Sampuang garnered the first place for the best agricultural video highlighting their practices on diversified farming systems. Meanwhile, Jestoni A. Integro and his farmer-partner Nilda J. Bungaos won the second place.
These two pairs responded to the initiative of the Agricultural Training Institute and Smart Communications, Inc. in advancing the adoption of a more innovative form of technology in farming and product marketing through the Digital Farmers Program 101. They were among the 54 farmers and youth from Butuan City and RTRomualdez who attended the 2 batches of KSL on DFP 101 conducted last November 27-28, 2019.
The prizes included smartphones, tripod, solar power bank, external drive, and cash which were awarded by Center Director Samuel L. Calonzo, Acting Assistant Center Director Heracleo A. Paler and Operations Manager of Smart Distributor –Agusan del Norte June Libny Grisola during ATI’s 33rd founding anniversary on January 29, 2020 at the ATI Training Center.
Recognizing farmers as best storytellers, DFP 101 intends to develop local agri-related content based on the wisdom and practices of farmers themselves to get more people to find new hope in digital farming.
