TANTANGAN, South Cotabato- In celebration of the annual Farmers’ and Fisher folk’s Month, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 12 paid tribute to countryside heroes through a Photo Contest Online.
With a theme, “Pagpupugay sa Magsasaka at Mangingisda Natin, Tungo sa Sapat na Pagkain’, the month-long ATIng ka-Agri, iBIDA Photo Contest served as platform for farmers and fishers to showcase and recognize their contribution in the development of agri-fishery sector.
The ATI 12 through its Information Services Section organized the said contest. A total of fifteen entries (15) across the region have answered the call and participated the photo contest.
Each entries captured the vital role of a farmer/fisher in agricultural development and answered the question ‘Bakit siya ay isang AgriBIDA?
Rice farmer from this Municipality Mr. Willy A. Ignacio emerged as winner and bested other 14 farmers. His photo has garnered a total of 223,111 points from the facebook likes, comments and shares. The 2nd and 3rd place was obtained by farmer from Norala, South Cotabato Mr. Rodrigo Evasco and vegetable farmer from Datu Piang, Maguindanao Mr. Pilek Abo, respectively.
Mr. Ignacio expressed his thanks to ATI 12 as he received his prizes.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa ATI 12 dahil kahit kaming mga maliliit na magsasaka ay kinilala. Itong mga natanggap ko ay lubos na makakatulong sa aking pagsasaka. Sobrang tuwa ko ngayon dahil pangarap ko talaga na magkaroon ng sariling rechargeable knapsack sprayer’’, he said.
During the awarding ceremony, Career Development Management Services Section Ms Simona P. Dela Cruz said that despite the CoViD-19 pandemic, there is a silver lining behind the clouds. Ms Dela Cruz thanked them for participating and being an inspiration not just for their community but for the whole country as a whole.
Planning Officer II Engr. Teofilo T. Jumawan, ISS Officer-in-Charge Ms Hannadi Guiamad-Pompong and CDMSS Chief MS Simona P. Dela Cruz awarded the prizes to the winners. Mr. Ignacio received an 18-L Rechargeable Sprayer, Vegetable Seeds, farm tools, ATI 12 Sweat Shirt and Farmer’s Hat as part of his prize.
The prizes that were turned over is in support of the DA’s “Plant, Plant, Plant” Program also known as “Ahon Lahat Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) kontra COVID-19.”
Last May 30, ISS Officer-in-Charge Ms Hannadi Guiamad-Pompong along with Technical Staff John Lord Auman and Project Evaluation Officer Ms Bai Moniera Salilama, awarded the prizes for the the 2nd and 3rd place winner in Norala, South Cotabato and Datu Piang, Maguindanao, respectively.
