To massively disseminate the information on Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in consonance with the implementation of the Rice Tariffication Act or RA 11203, the Agricultural Training Institute- XI (ATI XI) has undertaken series of information caravan attended by rice farmers in the region.
The information caravans were conducted on the following date and venue: October 24, 2019 in Digos City, Davao del Sur; October 25, 2019 in Carmen, Davao del Norte; October 26, 2019 in Asuncion, Davao del Norte; October 29, 2019 in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province and on October 30, 2019 in Compostela, Compostela Valley Province.
Further, it will continue on November 5, 2019, in Lupon, Davao Oriental; November 6, 2019, in Cateel, Davao Oriental and on November 7, 2019, at Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
More than 1000 farmers attended the conducted orientations in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) Davao together with the respective partner agencies such as Philippine Rice Research Institute, Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Land Bank, and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
Representative of the above mentioned agencies presented the services, programs and technologies that they offer, underlining the procedure of availing the four key programs under RCEF.
Further, DA and ATI discussed the Rice Tariffication Law, its history, guidelines, and benefits to the rice industry as a whole.
Right after all the presentations, farmers were given time to speak to ask questions through an open forum.
The caravans were spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC 11) through its Information Services Section (ISS).
