Some farmers in Kapalong, Davao del Norte, are now equipped with knowledge and skills on mushroom production and processing after attending training conducted by Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in the Davao Region.
The farmers, along with Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) in the said municipality, participated in the on-site Training on Spawn and Mushroom Production with Mr. Omar S. Ayco, Agriculturist II, PAGRO Davao del Norte, as the resource person.
Through Mr. Ayco's talks, the participants learned the principles of mushroom cultivation technology, particularly on the oyster species production.
Besides, he led the participants in demonstrating the procedure of spawn development using straw corn cobs as a substrate.
Aside from production, the resource speaker also showed the participants how to process mushrooms into value-adding products such as mushroom crispy and spicy chips to increase profit.
“Dako kaayo nga gamit para sa amoa bilang farmer nga nakakutlo pa kami ug bag-ong teknolohiya ug pamaagi nga makatabang sa pangibuhian namo. Ang amoa learnings nga nakutlo sa training amoa kini ipaambit sa among silingan aron nga makabalo pud sila mag prodyus ug mushroom,” said Danilo Jose-Team Libgos, one of the participants
The training was held at Brgy. Capungagan, Kapalong, Davao Del Norte on October 21-23, 2020.
