Eleven (11) farmers from the province of Davao Oriental and Davao City received their fund support cheque amounting to Php 150,000 each from the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC XI) after having been certified as Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) cooperators in 2019.

The distribution of cheque took place during the official turnover ceremony on June 29, 2020, at ATI RTC XI Training Hall, Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

Recipients of the financial support from Davao Oriental are Atcher Lipio, Mr. Jorge T. Bala Sr., Mr. Arther Lipio, Mr. Samuel J. Edausos, Mrs. Rosalinda Adalim, Nelie F. Racsa, Edgardo T. Arisola, Gene P. Gilos, Renerio D. Dilag. While recipients from Davao City are Anita R. Morales and Ma. Teresa B. Cańete.

The financial assistance given to the cooperators will be used in the establishment of additional farm projects that will help augment their farm operations. As per the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for LSA, the project should be based on the approved proposal that they had submitted upon applying for the certification.

Center Director Dante G. Esguerra, who headed the turnover ceremony, emphasized the big role of the LSAs as model farms to be mirrored by other farmers in their respective areas.

“ As LSA’s you will serve as big brothers to your small brother farmers, help them as much as you can to succeed also in farming’, he said. Esguerra was referring to the big brother-small brother concept of ATI that harness the participation of large-scale and small-scale farmers in the pursuit of shared and inclusive growth in farming.

Esguerra also encouraged the cooperators to strive harder to enhance their farm technologies and facilities to qualify into the higher levels of accreditation of ATI Extension Services, the School for Practical Agriculture (SPA), and Extension Service Provider (ESP).

The ceremony was also attended by personnel from Provincial Agriculture (PAGRI) of Davao Oriental, Ms. Anasol Reintar, Ms. Mariquita Mangopot, Ms. Vicenta Nergara, and Mr. Michael James Adanza.
