KAPALONG, Davao del Norte— Consistent with the mandate of Department of Agriculture to produce safe and healthy food for the Filipinos, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI (ATI-RTC XI) conducted a technical briefing in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Kapalong, Davao del Norte on Back to Basics: Scientific and Sustainable Livestock and Poultry Production on June 30, 2020 at baranggay Gabuyan.
This advocacy aims to promote free range chicken production (FRCP) for more meat and eggs that are healthy and safe because of its stress-free environment and natural farming system. Around forty farmers in Kapalong were equipped with the basic scientific knowledge and technology needed before they engage into it.
On July 2, 2020, ATI-RTC-XI in coordination with the LGU of Kapalong distributed starter kits to the 40 farmer recipients of the said advocacy. The extension support included 800 live chickens, two (2) sacks of feeds for each, and an incubator for the association.
Amid these uncertain and challenging times, the Institute will continue to conduct activities towards enhancing the knowledge and skills of livestock and poultry raisers.
