ATI staff revisits writing, communication principles

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), spearheaded by the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), conducted the workshop on Writing and Communication Skills-batch 1 on March 19-21, 2019 at ATI Central Office, Quezon City. A total of 30 participants composed of the technical and administrative staff from different regional centers attended the train6ing.

This 3-day workshop aims to further strengthen the capability and competency of the Institute’s staff. It is also designed to practice using the standards for corporate communications in ATI, likewise be an effective communicator in the workplace.

“Good written and communication skills are very important to our work. Your written outputs will reflect the organization and affects the agency as a whole”, Engr. Renato B. Dela Cruz, Chief of Career Development and Management Division (CDMD), stated.

Topics discussed include the communication basics and its new approaches, principles of clear and effective writing, listening skills, writing correspondences and minutes, and preparing PowerPoint presentation.

The Information Services Division (ISD) facilitated the workshop sessions which involved individual and group activities. Individual outputs required each participant to write a Highlight of the 25-minute panel discussion while for collaborative outputs, each group demonstrated a meeting and prepared a Minutes afterwards. In addition, they also modified an existing PowerPoint template following the tips for an effective presentation. The facilitators also injected a fun, competitive spirit which led to higher engagement and interactivity among the trainees.

Meanwhile, Ms. Antonietta J. Arceo, Chief of ISD expressed hope that this refresher training will bring big improvements in adopting the ATI standards.

The second batch of this training is set on the fourth week of April this year.
