The Learning Site (LS) and School for Practical Agriculture (SPA) co-operators gathered for their 1st Quarterly Meeting this year to further strengthen camaraderie towards progressive development of accredited farm sites in Davao Region.
The meeting, held on March 23, 2019 at KWR Permaculture Farm, a LS in Kapalong, Davao del Norte, was actively attended by 45 cooperators and representatives coming from around the region.
Presided by Mrs. Teresita Loyola, Vice President of the LS Davao del Norte chapter, the meeting was an avenue to discuss and push through the following agenda: LS/SPA membership, Treasurer’s report, Signing of Memorandum of Agreement for new LS and SPA, submission of LS requirements, and LS applicant schedule of validation.
The meeting also made way for the cooperators to exchange agriculture technologies of their respective farms as well as their inspiring stories of success.
One of the co-operators who shared his farm experience was Mr. Ariel Jabanag, owner of Jabanag farm located in Tagum City.
Jabanag said that his goat farm is his ticket to success and his key to a better life. Started with only one (1) doe in 2010 as a mere hobby, now he has more or less 200 heads and counting. He manifested that even without an established forage area, he still managed to continually provide his goats food supply by roaming around the city to harvest grass.
“Tungod sa akong farm, nakapalit ko ug duha ka Bongo”, Jabanag proudly said, giving inspiration to his co-cooperators specially to those who are new to the farming industry.
On the other hand, Emelia M. Gadingan, ATI-Training Center Superintendent I, encouraged the cooperators to link with other government agencies for possible grants of funds and projects that can help in the development of their LS and SPA.
The next LS meeting is set on June this year.
