Enriched Rice Farmers: To achieve rice sufficiency of the country
With this year’s target in Rice Crop Manager (RCM) deployment of 15 briefings and required 50 recommendations generation per briefing, Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center IX (ATI-RTC IX) conducted the last and the 15th briefing in Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.
The 15th RCM briefing was held at Salawagan, Kindergarten School, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur last September 29, 2016, completing the target briefings and reached over the target generated recommendations of 888 in Region 9.
The 15 briefings were conducted all over region 9 and respectively in the municipalities of Ramon Magsaysay, Kumalarang, Mahayag, Midsalip, Tukuran and Bayog of Zamboanga del Sur, Sindangan and Leon Postigo of Zamboanga del Norte, and Ipil of Zamboanga Sibugay.
RCM briefings were conducted to orient rice growers/producers on the benefits and advantages of Rice Crop Manager (RCM). To provide farmers with personalized information on optimal crop and nutrient management, farmers were interviewed regarding their rice management and information about their rice fields. And a one-page generated personalized RCM recommendation will be given to the farmer for their guide in the upcoming planting season.
With the main goal is to help farmers produce more yields and eventually alleviate their livelihood through the technology RCM offers. Farmers were delighted with the program because for them it is a big help especially in their rice production management. Through this program, it can also help our country to achieve the self-sufficiency in Rice.
This accomplishment was successful through the efforts of the ATI-RTC IX RCM Team, composes of the Information Services Section headed by Ms. Virgie MV. Cabrera and with the Rice Focal Mr. Nino O. Codino.
