Season-Long Training of Trainers on PalayCheck System

The training started on January 6, 2010 and will culminate on May 6, 2010. Venue of the Training is at the Satellite Office of ATI-Upper Irasan, Roxas, Zamboanga del Norte. Twenty-four (24) participants coming from the LGUs of Sibutad, Katipunan, Rizal, Polanco, Roxas, La  Libertad, Siayan, Labason, Leon B. Postigo, Sindangan, Piñan, Sergio Osmeña in Zamboanga del Norte were in attendance.   Training Management Team was composed of Dr. Sergio M. Andolero, Over-all Supervisor, Dennis C. Prosianos, Project Officer, Alex G. Carangcarang, Ramil C. Subingsubing, Aurelio T. Paragas, Jr., Maximiliano C. Elcamel and Hermenegildo D. Pampilo as Facilitators with Venus D. Calaguian, Juvy L. Eguia, Oscar Victor D. Buot, Orlando B. Bayogos, Arlie J. Paculba, Phoebe Lou M. Arcos and Ramon T. Lumasay as members of the Support Staff.     Resource persons were Dennis C. Prosianos, Ramil C. Subingsubing, Alex Pulmano, Winie Jose, Ahmad Nahul, Alex G. Carangcarang, Aurelio T. Paragas, Jr. Hermenegildo D. Pampilo, Maximiliano C. Elcamel, Vicenta V. Panday, Celestino A. Camocamo, Venus D. Calaguian, and Phoebe Lou A. Bicoy. Topics that were lectured were the following: 1.  Growth Stages of Rice Plant; 2.  Minus One Element Technique; 3.  Facilitation Skills; 4.  Kuhol Management; 5.  Nutrient Management; 6.  Insect Pests and Natural Enemies; 7.  Weedy Rice; 8.  Water Management; 9.  Harvest Management; 10. Rice Hybridization Technology; 11. Pests and Diseases of Rice 12. Climate change 13. Soil Test Kit 14. Keychecks   Field/classroom activities of the trainees consisted of the following: - Field Orientation on TOT Demo Site - Seedbed lay-outing/sowing/transplanting/replanting /weeding - Establishment of AWD, AESA Observation Hill, Insect Zoo, Observation Plot - Farmers Field School classes lecture sessions - Field Days - Post Harvest facilities visitation - Power point hands-on training - Micro-teaching (prelim and mid-term) - Preparation of Keycheck Stations for graduation and Field Day. - Preparation / Submission of Terminal Report for the Farmer Field School and PTD   One hundred fifty-one farmer-participants in the Farmers Field School will join the 24 TOT Trainees this coming May 6, 2010 for the Palaycheck TOT/FFS Graduation and Field Day. Highlights of the one-day affair are the following: 1.  Field Walk; 2.  Lectures on Keychecks in every Keycheck station; 3.  Open Forum; 4.  Graduation Program; and 5.  Pista sa Nayon with Rondalla   Dr. Oscar O. Parawan, Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Feld Unit IX will deliver his message during the Graduation Day, and will be joined by ATI Executive Director Asterio P. Saliot and Center Director Dr. Sergio M. Andolero in distributing certificates of training completion and awarding of medals and plaques of recognition.   The trainees who will complete the training are the following: 1.  Alma L.
