IPs and P4MPs pledge support to FSSP

Baybay City, Leyte. Sixty-two indigenous people (IP) and members of the Pambansang Mannalon-Maguuma-Magbabaul-Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (P4MP) convened together to discuss and brainstorm strategies to support the Food Staple Sufficiency Program (FSSP) on August 27, 2013 at the Visayas State University-based ATI-RTC 8.

Farm Family forum conducted

Naval, Biliran. More than 300 rural-based organizations officers, members and coordinators gathered for the Farm Family Forum on April 11-12, 2012.

The forum was a joint collaboration of the Agricultural Training Institute 8 and the Province of Biliran.  It brought together the 4Hers, P4MPs (Pambansang Mannalon-Mag-uuma-Magbabaul-Magsasaka ng Pilipinas) and the RICs (Rural Improvement Club) from the six provinces of the region to renew ties and for friendly skills competition. 

AEWs and 4Hers briefed on NMRice Mobile

Baybay City, Leyte.  Eighteen agricultural extension workers (AEW) from the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran and Samar in Region VIII participated in the reinforcement course on computer-based data management training on March 27-30,2012.

P4MP coordinators in M&E training

The P4MP or the Pambansang Mannalon-Maguuma-Magbabaul-Magsasaka ng Pilipinas municipal coordinators underwent training on monitoring and evaluation of projects and in coming up with bankable project proposals at VSU-based ATI 8 in Baybay, Leyte on May 24-26, 2011.

ATI 8 holds farm family forum

The ATI-RTC 8 spearheaded the 2nd joint Rural-based Organizations Farm Family Forum on April 27-29 at the Andres C. Yu Memorial Hall in Alangalang, Leyte.  The activity was guided with the theme "RBOs in motion towards food security and self-sufficiency" and carried out by ATI-RTC 8, DA-RFO 8, provincial governments and the municipal government of Alangalang, Leyte.

Two hundred seven participants, representing the 4H Clubs (116), Rural Improvement Clubs (14),  P4MP (30), coordinators (45) and VLAP (2) attended the forum.

1st farm family forum held

ATI 8 in tandem with DA-RFU 8 convened together 37 Pambansang Mannalon-Mag-uuma-Magbabaul-Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (P4MP), 21 Rural Improvement Club (RIC), and 80 4H Club members together with their 30 coordinators for the 1st regional farm family forum on April 20-22, 2010 at the Center for Continuing Education in the Visayas State University, Baybay City.

Strengthening RBOs

The rural-based organizations (RBOs) have served in many ways in pushing forward the local economy.  They engaged in various activities that promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

To further strengthen RBO's entrepreneurial skills and enhance group's income-generating activities, ATI 8 tied-up anew with the local government units in empowering these organizations through skills training specifically in value-enhancing and or adding activities.
