Farmers view techno demonstrations

Borongan, Eastern Samar.  One hundred fifty-one farmers from Barangays Bugas, Cabong, Lalawigan, Bayobay and Can-abong trooped to see the the participatory technology demonstration (PTD) areas, which include trials on varietal and seed selection, nutrient management, seedling rate, land preparation, and use of high quality seeds.

FFS facilitators attend TOT

The ATI-RTC 8 based at the Visayas State University organized a region-wide training of trainers for Farmers Field School (FFS) facilitators on organic vegetable production.

The training was designed to enable the FFS facilitators to refresh and upgrade their skills and knowledge on organic vegetable production and other social technologies necessary for an effective implementation of FFS.

Baybay City.  Twenty-eight Gender and Development (GAD) focal persons from local government units, state universities, national government agencies and non-government agencies in the region participated in the training of trainers on harmonized gender development guidelines conducted by ATI-RTC 8 on June 19-21, 2012.

ATI 8 conducts TOT on cacao production

Baybay City -- The VSU-based ATI-RTC 8 conducted the training of trainers on cacao production on May 19-23, 2012. The training was done in collaboration with the local government of Matag-ob, Leyte which is one of cacao-producing municipalities in the province.

ATI 8 assists coffee farms rehabilitation

With the domestic demand for coffee growing and its economic potential, some local government units in Leyte and Southern Leyte initiated a rehabilitation program of their coffee farms.

To help in the rehabilitation program, the Agricultural Training Institute 8 convened together farmers, agricultural extension workers, DAR and DENR staff for an intensive 3-day training of trainers on coffee production.

Mango growers attend TOT on mango production

Samar. The Agricultural Training Institute 8 conducted a 3-day trainers training on banana production technology in the province of Samar on May 15-17, 2012.  It was participated in by 17 farmers and nine agricultural extension workers.
