89 farmers receive FFS certificates

Carigara, Leyte.  Eighty-nine farmers from barangays San Juan, Barayong and Manloy of the Municipality of Carigara completed the four months Farmers Field School (FFS) on PalayCheck System in support to the Irrigated Rice Production Enhancement Program (IRPEP).  They received their certificates of completion on April 11, 2013 at the Kangara Gymnasium, Carigara, Leyte.

Farmers view techno demonstrations

Borongan, Eastern Samar.  One hundred fifty-one farmers from Barangays Bugas, Cabong, Lalawigan, Bayobay and Can-abong trooped to see the the participatory technology demonstration (PTD) areas, which include trials on varietal and seed selection, nutrient management, seedling rate, land preparation, and use of high quality seeds.

24 AEWs share best extension practices

Twenty-four agricultural extension workers (AEWs) in the region shared their best extension practices in rice during the training on the Documentation of Best Extension Pratices in Rice on March 18-22, 2013 at ATI-RTC 8, VSU, Baybay City, Leyte. 

PAR training held

Forty-three local farmer technicians (LFT) graduated from the Specialized Training Course on Participatory Action Research for LFTs (Phase 2) on October 22-26, 2012 at the ATI-RTC 8, VSU, Baybay City, Leyte.  The participants came from the provinces of Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar and were former graduates of the Specialized Training Course on Rice Production conducted last June 25-29, 2012 in Babatngon, Leyte.

Another PalayCheck System FFS holds its graduation

Twenty farmers from Brgy. Pangna in Carigara, Leyte finished the five-month Farmers Field School on PalayCheck System in support to the Irrigated Rice Production Enhancement Program being coordinated by ATI-RTC 8 in the region.

 
The farmer-graduates received their certificates of completion from the Honorable Mayor of Carigara Trinidad G. Apostol and ATI-RTC 8 Center Director Paulino T. Cabahit on October 19, 2012.
 

Tanauan farmers finish FFS on PalayCheck System

Tanauan, Leyte.  Honorable Mayor Agapito P. Pagayanan handed in the certificates of completion to 16 farmer-participants of the Farmers Field School on PalayCheck System for completing the course on October 16, 2012 in Brgy. Canbalisara.

 
The five-month activity was in support to the Irrigated Rice Production Enhancement Program implemented in the different municipalities in the region that is being coordinated by ATI-RTC 8 in tandem with other government agencies.
 

Season-long FFS in Kananga ends

Kananga, Leyte. Forty-one farmers from Barangays Cacao and Sto. Niño got their certificates for completing the five months Farmers Field School (FFS) on Rice-based Production Technologies in Support to the Irrigated Rice Production Enhancement Program that is being coordinated by ATI-RTC 8. 

 

ATI 8 conducts seed banking training

Borongan City -- Twenty-seven agricultural extension workers (AEWs) and farmer leaders from the 12 municipalities of Eastern Samar participated the training of trainers on community seed banking for both upland and lowland rice.

ATI 8 conducts TOT on seed banking

Biliran, Biliran -- Twenty-nine farmers and agricultural extension workers from the seven municipalities of Biliran province attended the trainers training on community seed banking both for upland and lowland rice conducted by the ATI-RTC 8 with assistance from the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 8 (DA-RFO 8).
