What is ATI-RTC 8?

Another CBDM conducted

One more batch of agricultural extension workers (AEWs) was trained on computer-based data management training to strengthen their skills in Office Productivity application specifically on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  They were also introduced to the web version of the Nutrient Manager for Rice.

The participants revisited the e-Extension program particularly the e-Learning site where they enrolled in courses of their choice.  They were also briefed on the Farmers' Contact Center.

ATI 8 orients FITS staff on e-Extension

Twenty-eight Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) managers and staff from 13 FITS centers in the region participated the orientation activity on the e-Extension program of the Agricultural Training Institute on July 19-20, 2011 at VSU, Visca, Baybay, Leyte.

Agripinoy framework introduced

The VSU-based ATI 8 oriented stakeholders on the AgriPinoy framework for common and full understanding of its concept, principles and mechanics.

Forty-five provincial agriculturists and commodity program coordinators from the six provinces of Region VIII attended the regional orientation on February 14-18, 2011 at ATI-RTC 8, VSU, Baybay, Leyte.

ATI 8 co-sponsors training workshop on writing and reviewing research articles

Joining with the Commission on Higher Education-Zonal Research Center; Visayas State University (VSU); Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development; and the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture and Resources Program, the Center conducted the training workshop on Writing and Reviewing Research Articles for Peer-Reviewed Publications on January 17-21, 2011.

Another Season-Long Training of Trainers on PalayCheck System culminated on December 8, 2010 producing 27 trainer-graduates from the provinces of Samar, Northern Samar and Leyte in Region VIII.  The training was conducted in support to the Irrigated Rice Production Enhancement Project (IRPEP).  It started on August 23, 2010.

Accessing e-Learning

The Agricultural Training Institute 8 showed agricultural extension workers the enabling power of the information communication technology to enhance extension delivery system.

Eighteen agricultural extension workers accessed the e-Extension site of the Institute and enrolled in the e-Learning courses offered on-line during the Basic ICT and e-Learning Training Course on June 22-24, 2010.

ATI 8 orients AEWs on climate change

ATI 8 conducted series of orientations on climate change to raise the level of awareness of agricultural extension agents on the relationship between climate change and agriculture and to provide them some guidelines on how to help farmers respond to climate change and phenomena related to it like the El Niño, La Niña, dry spell, water stress among others.

Seed inspectors undergo refresher course

Forty-eight seed inspectors and coordinators from the six provinces of Region 8 attended the three-day refresher course designed to make them more fit to perform their functions.
