ATI 8 spearheads tree planting

Visayas State University, Baybay City. Thirty-six freshmen students of the Visayas State University joined ATI-RTC 8 staff in planting more trees near the foothills of Mount Pangasugan on February 23, 2013. The group was led by ATI-RTC 8 Project Officer Maximo S Pantoñal and Information Assistant Gian Carlo M Borines.

VL Asis attends international congress

Bontoc, Southern Leyte. ATI-RTC 8 Training Assistant Vanissa L. Asis attended the 1st International Freshwater Prawn Congress at the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU)-Bontoc Campus on January 10-11, 2012. Aside from Filipino participants from the different regions in the country, the congress was also participated in by representatives from Norway, Kenya and Vietnam.

GC Borines' study in Philippine Journal of Development

Mr. Gian Carlo M. Borines is ATI-RTC 8 Information Assistant.

His study entitled, "Corn Farmers' Decisionmaking Based on Seasonal Climate Forecasts" was published in Philippine Journal of Development Volume 36, Number 1.  It was co-authored by Dr. Rotacio S. Gravoso of the visayas State University and Dr. Canesio D. Predo of the University of the Philippines Los Banos.

ATI 8 ends 2012 with THAT'S GOOD

THAT'S GOOD or Total Health for ATI 8 Training Staff as they Go Onward in Development capped ATI 8's 2012 of harnessing the potentials and camaraderie of its staff. 

SOA on Organic Agriculture launched in Samar

Calbayog City, Samar.  In partnership with the City Government of Calbayog thru the City Agriculture Office, ATI-RTC 8 launched the School on the Air (SOA) on Organic Agriculture on September 13, 2012 at the Calbayog Convention Center.  The launching was attended by 576 farmers, agricultural extension workers and students.

HY Goltiano chairs Regional Extension Team

Baybay City, Leyte.  The Regional Commodity Teams convened on September 4, 2012 at the Center for Continuing Education, Visayas State University to reconstitute team membership who will craft the Regional Integrated Research Development and Extension Agenda Program for the next five years.

ATI 8 co-sponsors jak FIESTA

VSU, Baybay City. ATI-RTC 8 together with the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development, Visayas Consortium for Agriculture and Resources Program (ViCARP), Regional Research Development and Extension Network (RRDEN), Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Unit VIII and the Visayas State University conducted the Jackfruit FIESTA (Farms and Industry Encounters through Science and Technology Agenda) on August 6-7, 2012.

FSTP phase III refresher course held

The FSTP phase III also known as the final step in Farmer Scientist Training Program is a farmer field school where farmers share to fellow farmers their learnings in phases I and II specifically on corn technologies.
