MOVE AFEN REWIND

The Center gathered in two groups 27 officers of the provincial agriculture and fishery extension networks in Eastern Visayas and the Center's technical staff for the MOVE AFEN REWIND (Mobile Venture for the Enhancement of Agriculture and Fishery Extension Networks-Regional Workshop in Network Development) on December 1-5, 2009 in Bacolod, Negros Occidental.

ATI 8 trains RBOs

ATI 8 trained 31 rural-based organization members on simplified bookkeeping and 23 on food processing.

On November 18-20, members of four RBOs from the municipalities of Baybay, Mahaplag and San Miguel in Leyte went through the rigors of performing bookkeeping and preparing financial statement of their respective enterprises.

Swine Production for 4H Clubs

Forty-eight 4Hers from Eastern Samar and Samar learned appropriate ways in raising pig for good income from experts of the Visayas State University.

On November 4-6, 2009, these clubbers interacted with the experts on breed selection, health and disease management, feeding management and housing that are essential in swine production.  They also learned to determine the profitability of the enterprise by going through cost and return analysis.

ATI 8 launches FSTP in Samar

ATI 8 launched the Farmer-Scientists Corn-based RDE Training program for Samar Province on November 18, 2009 in Catbalogan, Samar. Close to 150 farmers from the municipalities of Pinabacdao, San Jorge and Paranas attended the activity that was graced by DA-RFU 8 Regional Executive Director Leo P. Caneda, FSTP Founder Dr. Romulo G. Davide, ATI 8 Center Director Paulino T. Cabahit and representatives from the provincial FSTP team.

Farmers' Contact Center Launched

November 28, 2009, Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City, Bohol -- This day marked the unfolding of another milestone of the electronic extension of the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute: the launching of the Farmers' Contact Center.

ATI offers scholarship

The ATI through its Expanded Human Resource Development Program (EHRDP) implements capability development programs to its staff and clientele to ensure better delivery of services.

The Institute has signed Memorandum of Agreements with state universities and colleges for the implementation of the ERHDP where ATI extends financial assistance to students either in the doctoral or master's degree.

ATI 8 inks MOAs with 4H clubs

The Department of Agriculture through the Agricultural Training Institute funded 4H club projects to give opportunity to 4H organizations to be gainfully employed to enable them to participate actively to the growth and development of the national economy.

In October, ATI 8 inked MOAs with 13 4H clubs whose project proposals were approved for funding.  In November, the institute hopes to fund more projects of other 4H clubs in the region who were already assessed and validated but have yet to submit proposals.

e-Learning for ICT equipment recipients

Ten more Farmers Information and Technology Service (FITS) centers in the region received their ICT equipment under the Enhancing FITS for Rural Development of the Techno Gabay program.  The equipment were turned over by the Regional Management Information System Coordinator Engr. Sean O. Villagonzalo and the Regional Techno Gabay Coordinator Hazel Grace T Taganas on September 24, 2009.  With the equipment was a check for the cellular phone load, and for the five centers, another check was given for the content build-up, production of IEC materials and promotion of technology.
