ATI 8 conducts info drive on the RatPlan

In view of the forthcoming approval of its Rationalization Plan, ATI 8 conducted an information drive to its employees regarding the Rationalization Plan. The information drive was also in line with the directive from DA-Central Office requiring all organizations in the Department to organize a forum on DA Rationalization to ensure that everyone understands fully the provisions of Executive Order (EO) 366 and related issuances so that the affected staff may arrive at a well-informed decision when choosing what option to take.

e-Learning coordinator serves as CPAR projects evaluator

Marabut, Samar. e-Learnning Coordinator Hazel Grace T Taganas joined other Community Participatory Action Research-Regional Commodity Team (CPAR-RCT) members in evaluating the completed CPAR projects during the projects terminal review on May 2-3, 2013 at Caluwayan Palm Island Resort in the province of Samar.

GAD advocates trained on processing

Twenty Gender and Development (GAD) advocates from the municipalities of Calbiga and Hinabangan in Western Samar and the city of Borongan in Eastern Samar participated in the ATI-sponsored training on Banana and Ginger Production, Processing and By-Product Utilization on April 23-25, 2013 at the Visayas State University (VSU), Visca, Baybay City, Leyte.

24 AEWs share best extension practices

Twenty-four agricultural extension workers (AEWs) in the region shared their best extension practices in rice during the training on the Documentation of Best Extension Pratices in Rice on March 18-22, 2013 at ATI-RTC 8, VSU, Baybay City, Leyte. 

2nd CBDM training conducted

Baybay City, Leyte. The ATI-RTC 8 conducted the second for 2013 Computer-based Data Management (CBDM) training for agricultural extension workers (AEWs) on March 12-15, 2013.  The first was conducted on February 12-15, 2013 with 24 participants, two of whom are ATI-RTC 8 staff.

ATI 8 orients FITS centers stakeholders

ATI-RTC 8 Techno Gabay Program coordinators HGT Taganas and DBR Baltazar provided orientation of the program to the stakeholders of FITS centers in Calubian and San Isidro in the province of Leyte on February 20, 2013.

Calbiga FITS center is first in 2013

Calbiga, Samar.  On January 18, the local government of Calbiga in the province of Samar launched its FITS (Farmer Information and Technology Service) center, making it the first to be established in 2013. 

GC Borines' study in Philippine Journal of Development

Mr. Gian Carlo M. Borines is ATI-RTC 8 Information Assistant.

His study entitled, "Corn Farmers' Decisionmaking Based on Seasonal Climate Forecasts" was published in Philippine Journal of Development Volume 36, Number 1.  It was co-authored by Dr. Rotacio S. Gravoso of the visayas State University and Dr. Canesio D. Predo of the University of the Philippines Los Banos.
